The Chicago Cubs take on the Los Angeles dodgers in their final regular season match up, Jon Lester is on the mound for the Cubs he holds a 3.68 era on the road. Lester is having a great bounce back year in his second season with the Cubs, he has a 14-4 record compared to last season where he finished with a 11-12 record. Lester has made four career starts against the Dodgers with two wins and two losses, his last start he threw a complete game with 10 strike outs and allowed one run. The Cubs have a 82-46 record on the season and have a 14 game lead in the National League Central Division over the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs in 2016 have already won the season series against the Dodgers with a 4-2 record, and look to go 17-12 vs the National League West Division.
The Dodgers are sending Illinois native Brock Stewart to the mound, in his two Major League starts he has given up 14 earned runs five of those runs were home runs. The Dodgers are leading the National League West Division with a 72-56 record and are up 2 games on the San Francisco Giants. Every game is meaning more and more to the Dodgers as there are only 42 games left in the regular season and they play the Giants only six more times. Unless these two teams meet up in the playoffs this will be the final time Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully calls a Cubs game as he is retiring at the end of the season. Scully has been broadcasting Dodger games since 1950, the longest any broadcaster has been with a single team in professional sports history. Cubs manager Joe Maddon and former Dodger David Ross met up with Scully before Friday nights game, they gave him the Dodger flag from Wrigley Field and the number 67 from the score board. During the third inning Comcast Sports Net Chicago will pay homage to Scully and air his call of the game on the Chicago station.
